Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
John V. Keenan is Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Horizon Lines. Mr. Keenan is responsible for all core ocean transportation services in the Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Micronesia and Puerto Rico markets, as well as the new commercial Asia services set to launch in December 2010. These responsibilities include all port, terminal and vessel operations, and service delivery functions. A 31-year veteran of the transportation industry, he began his career in 1979 with the Marine Engineers Benevolent Association, sailing as a vessel's engineer. Mr. Keenan joined Sea-Land in 1983 and has succeeded in several leadership positions during his tenure at the company, including Vice President Operations and Vice President, Sales & Marketing. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Engineering from the State University of New York at Fort Schuyler and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Keenan serves on the board of directors for the Pacific Maritime Association, the New York Shipping Association, United States Maritime Alliance, and University of Denver Intermodal Transportation Institute. |
